The bricking has begun

Kris isn't too sure

The time finally arrived. When all the string had been strung, trees had been cleared and bricks had been delivered. It was time to (finally) lay the first brick!
The troups were gathered (coerced) to assist. A wonderful huge thankyou to Bec, Kris, Kate, Finn, Bron and Pebbles for all their knowledge, assistance and entertainment during the two days.
We managed to make a good start on laying the double course of fired bricks which will be a base for the mudbricks. It is finally starting to look like the beginnings of a real building. It is also spring, some of the flowers are beautiful.

Check out some pics in the gallery.

Now that everything is finalised, I feel I can comment.

what a week!

Hooly dooly! I have managed to learn quite a lot this week, or at least dig my way out of some interesting holes. If you are using IE for windows, you may notice (hopefully) that the CSS menus are now working. Managed to make the hover behaviour work! I also tidied some stuff up; changed the hat from PNG to GIF, just because I couldn't be bothered spending any more time trying to get IE to recognise PNGs.; other link related stuff also.

Have just taken delivery of some very exciting books. Will talk about them next time.

bookmark-o-rama!

Phew...just spent several hours farting around with my bookmarks. I had been wondering what to do for a few years now. So I eventually decided to go with del.icio.us which looks to be the most 'supported' web based bookmark thingy around.

I really like the idea of getting away from hierachical folder structures and going tag based. There is lots of discussion out there, however, it is time for bed. more later.

plans afoot - the beginning

Six people in a four bedroom share house can be pretty full on living for those of us from small families. It was with this in mind that Sarah and I began considering how we were going to last the next couple of years before I finished uni.

A couple of options existed;

  1. seek out a house to buy, somewhere in Bendigo (where we were living at the time).
  2. find a block of land somewhere with thoughts of maybe someday producing a three dimensional dwelling.

Site updated

Updated site with new menu functionality, using PHPLayersMenu. Seems to to going well so far. Had a little difficulty getting it to work with Gallery and phpicalendar (and possibly this section also), so I am working on a pure css menu concept to go on those pages. Feel free to let me know how it renders in your browser.
